I think there's a lot to be said here about the evangelical view of "sin", ie, there's so much talk about how we're all horrible sinners, we're all just totally the worst, we shouldn't ever think we're any good, the best we can do is to honestly confess our sins. So then when a man says he "struggles with lust" and teenage girls need to not wear "immodest" clothes (whatever that means), one way this could be interpreted is like, oh it's good that he's being honest, we're all horrible sinners so this is normal. There's not really a concept of your sin having a victim- like when a man says he "struggles with lust" why does the church not take that to mean it's not safe for girls to be around him because he's a creep?
Kinda seems like overall, it's a very flexible view of sin, where any kind of sin can be excused like it doesn't even matter, because "we're all sinners so we can't judge", but also, any kind of sin can be treated like it's such a big deal and that person is disgusting and should be ostracized because don't you know that every sin is an infinite offense against a holy God? Could go either way, depending on *who* the "sinner" is and what kind of hierarchies and power dynamics exist around them.
